Description
Coin jewellery; brooch made from an 1820 George III silver five pounds coin; the reverse of the coin has been engraved and polychrome enamelled with an image of St George slaying the dragon, with the motto of the Order of the Garter around the border; obverse of the coin still shows the bust of George III, with the designer's name in tiny letters below the bust, and the usual legend around the border; brooch conversion probably made in the 1890s in Birmingham; the pin has detached from its mount.
