Description
Ink pen sketch, mildly satirical, with Shakespeare quote; shows a man seated on a stationary horse in a puddle, pulling its tail, with a quote from Macbeth, Act 1, scene 7; the sketch is one of three by an unknown hand; was collected pre-1979 (stamped with 'Eastgate House Museum'), so presumably was considered of historic interest, though the provenance is currently unknown; thin woven paper, no watermark; looks like something from the Fitzgerald Collection, but does not seem to appear on any listing.
Production period
mid-late 19th century?
