Martini-Henry .303 rifle; fair condition, mechanism functional; light pitting overall on metalwork; woodwork below barrel has been deliberately sawn short and the barrel cut as an early form of deactivation. It is stamped 'DP' ('drill purpose') showing that it has been used for drill purposes, training and teaching, for example by cadet forces. This type of rifle was adopted by the British Army in 1871.
