- DescriptionStoneware jug, incomplete; 'Bellarmine' or Frechen item; salt glaze stoneware; bulbous vessel, base only. Labelled 'Found by workmen at Castle Hill, Rochester, early 1972'. Probably made in the Netherlands, this vessel would have incorporated a satirical image of Cardinal Robert Bellarmine (1542-1621). He was an opponent of the Dutch Reformed Church.
