Description
Ink pen drawing of the River Medway at Strood dated December 1830; landmarks identified in Strood are the Watermill (tide mill), the boundary stone, the Canal Tavern & the old Rochester bridge; this is drawn on the reverse of A10337/14, a pencil drawing of an unidentified building in the Medway area, dated to July 1820; drawn by Humphrey Wickham (died 1893), a local antiquarian (see notes field for further biographical details). One of a series of 25 sketches & watercolours in a (now looseleaf) sketchbook (though this watermarked sheet is from a different source).
