Object number
A11414
Description
Red ware bottle; wheel-thrown; bulbous body with narrow neck with beaded rim; there is no trace of a handle, though some surface loss may disguise the fact that it may have had a small ring handle at the base of the neck (in the style of a costrel); the base shows some blackening as if it may have heated over an open fire in the past; the body has some small holes; it was numbered by George Payne in the early 20th century, but this has become illegible - it may be D697, given in 1914.
Production period
