Hat; helmet of the Royal West Kent Regiment 4th Volunteer Battalion; 'pickelhaube'-style helmet, topped with metal spike; leather brim front & back; metal shako plate & chinstrap scales; the 4th Volunteer Battalion was raised in 1900 and disbanded in 1908; H F Cobb is recorded as having been promoted from 2nd to 1st Lieutenant on 3/02/1904; with original japanned metal hat box; no provenance.
