Booklet; allegorical satirie on the Franco-Prussian War of 1870-71; published (anonymously) by Henry William Pullen in 1871; satirises the war as a row among schoolboys; the 'boys' in the story are 'Louis' (Emperor Napoleon III of France), 'Aleck' (Tsar Alexander II of Russia), 'Joseph' (Emperor Franz Joseph I of Austria), 'William' (King Wilhelm I of Prussia), 'Mark' (Otto von Bismarck) and 'John' (John Bull, the personification of the UK); the leaflet criticises the neutrality of the UK during the war, and there were at least another 10 pamphlets produced in response to this one; this is a budget edition, others were bound with cartoon images; probably given by a member of the Foord family, dated signature inside.
