- DescriptionCoin; gold stater; Obv: remnant of Apollo? head; Rev: Celticized horse; probably originated in Gaul (France); shows some heavy surface wear. Part of the Higham hoard of 11 gold staters found packed into a hollow fossil sponge, plugged with clay. Recovered by Mr J Hill during excavations in 26/12/1912. Reported by G C Brooke in the in Numismatic Chronicle 1923, p.156.
