One of a collection of 69 engraved prints: pasted on piece of blue sugar paper (A12800/4 on reverse); engraved print advertising a 'Proposal or Prospectus for Publishing A most Superb Edition of Mr Hume's History of England with notes Historical and Critical by Andrew Kippis DD FRS & SA And a Continuation of the History from The Revolution to the Present Time by Joseph Towers LLD'; foxing and top left corner torn; undated but the earliest volume of the History of England by the historian David Hume (written whilst working as librarian in Edinburgh) was published in 1754. Found as a group of material in an envelope sent to the museum in the 1950s or 1960s.
