Description
Civic collection; silver covered tankard; large cylindrical body, widening towards base; hollow handle with lower heart-shaped terminal; hinged domed lid with scroll thumb lift; engraved with Rochester City arms; hallmarked London sterling silver, 1719. Apparently found in the 'lumber room' in the Guildhall some time in the early 20th century. Lid has been repaired & seems to be not hallmarked.
