Description
Chamber barrel organ in mahogany case; 3 barrels of 10 tunes each; made by Longman & Broderip of London (1776-1798); extensively restored in 1998, but now (May 2004) makes a horrible noise. Dummy organ 'pipes' on front are loose. On display on the raised podium in the Guildhall main chamber. Longman & Broderip were instrument dealers who contracted local craftsmen to make instruments for them.
