Half of a brass sign or name plate; engraved 'LADIES COLLEGE' (probably to receive black enamel); on reverse is 'EASTGATE', showing re-use of sign from previous function as private house, before becoming school. Mounted on the wall. Purchased at the time when Eastgate House was being set up as a museum, originally mounted on the gates.
