Watercolour painting; a sepia view of Rochester Bridge & Strood tide mill (probably built in the 16th century, demolished in 1858; in the 18th century it was owned by the Hulkes family, one of whom drowned in the pond; in the early 19th century it was sold to Mr Horsnaill who fitted a steam engine to augment the power); various barges & smaller craft in view, the castle in the background. Susan Twopeny was the eldest daughter of Edward Soan Twopeny, a lawyer in the family business in the cathedral precincts. Her younger brother William was also an artist and bequeathed works to the British Museum.
