Watercolour (monochrome) painting of the old tollgate Strood, together with the Angel Inn and other old buildings, horse & cart & pedestrians in view; unframed. Stephen Aveling was a family member of the company who specialised in the manufacture of road rollers. He wrote articles for Archaeologia Cantiana in the 1880's.
