Description
Watercolour painting; view of Rochester Castle keep & original entrance to the bailey; figure with walking stick, cart being driven; coarse brushwork giving a pastel effect; unframed. Copied from an 1780 painting by Samuel Wakeman owned by Paul Braddon. Paul Braddon was the pseudonym of James Leslie Crees. He made pencil sketches of buildings and scenes, from which he painted watercolours. At least one other set is in NZ.
