Description
Watercolour painting; view of Gad's Hill, residence of Charles Dickens; viewed from the road through a gateway & trees; has a lone male figure with stick & pack (an artistic trade mark of this painter); coarse brushwork giving a pastel effect; unframed. Paul Braddon was the pseudonym of James Leslie Crees. He made pencil sketches of buildings and scenes, from which he painted watercolours. At least one other set of slightly different watercolours were taken from the same sketches (now in NZ).
