Watercolour sketch; shows a detail of the curtain walls of Rochester castle, with part of a brick building beyond; rather blurred & uninformative (probably an unfinished sketch); by Stephen Aveling; unframed. Donated some time before 1905? Stephen Aveling was a family member of the company who specialised in the manufacture of road rollers. He wrote articles for Archaeologia Cantiana in the 1880's.
