Description
Pencil sketch; Rochester Castle and the King's Head Stables, circa 1860; view shows mounted figure and two people on foot; represents the view before 1896 when the road was widened and houses on the left were demolished. This sketch was copied in oils by Henry Hopper twice (see A2694 & A 2646). See notes field of record A11430/6 for brief biographical details of the artist, Sarah Bowles.
