Description
Small bible presented to Charles Morris Hill of Strood for saving the life of Richard Newington in the River Medway on June 12th 1903; given to Mr Hill by the Medway workers of the Missions to Seamen; leather cover embossed with the SPCK logo. Other Hill family ephemera with MALSC (ref: DE987). Several members of the Hill family were free fishermen and dredgermen, Chamberlains of the Rochester Oyster Fishery.
