Description
Militia musket, percussion cap (converted from a flintlock); battered woodwork, some small parts missing from around lock; floral decoration on hammer, with fish or sea serpent design on the thumb pull; long all-metal ramrod; stock has additional chinrest; possibly Dutch manufacture; probably dating from the last quarter of the 18th century, this item has been converted for use as a militia weapon in the early-mid 19th century.
