Ephemera; photograph of Charles Dickens; albumen print, 'carte de visite' card; picture taken in circa 1860's; unknown photographer/publisher; studio shot of Dickens standing beside a table with top & umbrella; A7220 is the same sitting, different pose. Acquired and displayed at the museum in the early 20th century. These cards were very popular in the 1860's, & could be traded among friends & visitors, and collected & displayed in albums - the craze was known as 'Cardomania'.
