Description
Ephemera; photograph of Charles Dickens (aged 46); sepia portrait print, on card; picture taken in c.1858 by George (Herbert) Watkins; shows Dickens seated at desk, writing; published c.1887-97. Acquired and displayed at the museum in the early 20th century. Fradelle & Young were active at 246 Regent Street between 1887-1897. Image has small scuffs & marks, residual glue around edge from old mount. A later version of this photograph has an added painted background with a draped curtain & bookcase.
