Ephemera; booklet (incomplete) of speeches given at the public banquet given for Charles Dickens on 2/11/1867 at the Freemasons' Tavern, Freemasons' Hall, London, prior to his departure on a lecture tour of America; back cover & some pages missing. The list of people invited includes most of the usual suspects (Wilkie Collins, W H Wills, Percy Fitzgerald), but also a virtual "who's-who" of Political & Arts personalities (Tennyson, W E Gladstone, Sir Charles Russell, Lord Chief Justice, Lord Mayor); from the Fitzgerald Collection. A list of the 'Glees and Madrigals' played at the dinner is listed as A7297
