Description
figurine; Egyptian ushabti or shawabti; 25th Dynasty; carved stone funerary figurine; body prepared in traditional Egyptian fashion with arms crossed & headpiece. Holds tools to sow & reap the fields of the afterworld. Lower part & face broken away. Item originally buried with an individual to act as a worker in the afterworld in place of the deceased. Polished granite? Possibly one of 'several valuable Egyptian figures from the Valley of the Kings' given in January 1957 by Mr F Buckingham?
