Ephemera; photograph of a young lady; albumen print, 'carte de visite' card; shows a young woman, standing stiffly,the closely fitting bodice to her costume has a tightly corseted waistline; black and gold edged card, red on reverse with gold lettering. Horton collection.
These cards were very popular in the 1860s, and could be traded among friends and visitors, and collected and displayed in albums - the craze was known as 'Cardomania'.
