By email from researcher Emma Cooper (pigletcooper88@gmail.com):
There was only one Boatswain on board HMS Temeraire at the Battle of Trafalgar, Mr John Brooks.
He married at Portsmouth in May 1797 to Mary, while serving on board HMS Russell (HMS Russell was at the Battle of Camperdown in Oct. 1797). Mr Brooks was Boatswain the Temeraire from 31st March 1805 to 22nd May 1808.
Died in August 1808 and buried in Tavistock churchyard, aged 38. I have been unable to discover where he was born.
