Description
Engraving; a distant view of Rochester & Strood; a heavily-laden coach sets off down Strood Hill into the town; a flock of sheep to the right; wayside travellers converse by the old 'Coach & Horses' inn to the left, tinting added later. Engraved by W. Henshall (fl.1830-1846) from an original study by the landscape painter Charles Marshall. Originally produced for the part-work "Select Illustrated Topography of Thirty Miles Round London" (London 1837-1838).
