- TitleRECORDS OF ROCHESTER PRIORY, LEEDS PRIORY AND STROOD HOSPITAL
- ReferenceDRc (Priory)
- Date11th century-1668
- Level of descriptionfonds
- Scope and contentApart from a few minor acquisitions from elsewhere, almost all the property with which the Dean and Chapter of Rochester was endowed in 1541 was derived from the former priories of St. Andrew, Rochester, and St. Mary and St. Nicholas, Leeds, Kent, and the former Hospital of the New Work of St. Mary, Strood. For this reason these three houses have been treated as the joint predecessor of the Dean and Chapter, and the various charters, title deeds, and financial, manorial and legal records of each are catalogued in this collection.
- System of arrangementRecords have been arranged into sub-fonds by administrative function and then further divided within each sub-fonds according to which religious house they relate to, where possible.
- Related materialRecords of the Dean and Chapter of Rochester also have reference codes beginning "DRc". See collection "DRc (Dean and Chapter)". Records of the Bishopric and Archdeaconry of Rochester are held at the Kent History and Library Centre, Maidstone (collection DR).
