The treasurer, like the receiver general, was elected at the November Audit by the Dean and prebendaries from among themselves, and in the same way received a nominal payment for his services. He dealt only with the expenditure of money, i.e. the payment of salaries both of the members of the Chapter and other officers and servants, allowances, and workmen's, builders and surveyors' bills.
