St. Margaret's burial board was established in 1862 and began burials in 1865. However in 1928 the burial authority became the city of Rochester and the board stood down. In 1974 the city of Rochester was itself replaced as burial authority by Medway District Council, then Rochester upon Medway City Council, now Medway Council.
