Description
Openwork sub-rectangular shoe buckle of silver with inner frame of iron/ steel; openwork twisted ribbon design with small 'stars' or crosses creating a pseudo-jewelled effect; ferric (steel) loop with two spikes & a pitchfork double tongue. Shoe buckles of this sort were worn by either sex; found on the Thames foreshore at Southwark.
